Unleash

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Quick reminder, we have 25 tickets for the Unleash Conference in Anderson, SC this year.  The conference is on March 12th.  We will leave on Wednesday and be back late Thursday night.  Last year four of us went and this year we are going to take 25 crazy Crosspointers to be stretched and challenged.  If you are wanting to go, then take your $25 to the “information table” on Sunday morning and sign up.  Your $25 will cover your ticket and hotel.  You will be responsible for getting there and your food.  You better hurry, the conference is already sold out (2500 tickets) and we still have a few tickets left.  It’s filling up fast!  Trust me, you do not want to miss this awesome time at NewSpring Church!

Subservience

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

Subservience means to obey someone unquestioningly.  Have you notice we question everything?  ”Did she say that?”  ”Did that really happen?”  ”Is that really real?”

I have been reading through the Scriptures and have noticed a pattern.  It seems that everyone questioned God.  It seems that everyone questioned the authority of His words.  This doubt of God’s word started back in the Garden of Eden.  Satan and Eve were talking and he said, “Did God really say, that you should not eat from any tree in the garden?” (Gen. 3:1)

Questioning can lead to doubt and doubt can lead to disobeience.  Even today, people will excuse their disobedience based on doubts or questions.  Example: “Did God really say give 10% of our income to Him?”  ”Did God really say forgive those who hurt me?”  Did Jesus really say He is the only way to heaven?”  And these people will not tithe, forgive, or proclaim Jesus based on questioning the authority of God’s word.

Now is asking questions wrong?  No!  Your questions should drive you to the Scriptures to find answers. But when you find the answers you need to be ready for complete obedience to God’s word.  God’s word will tell you to tithe, to forgive, and to proclaim that Jesus is the only way.  The problem is that most people questions don’t drive them to Scriptures but drive them away from Scriptures.

Here is what God has been teaching me…99.9% obedience is 100% disobedience.  I meet people all the time that say, “I know what God’s word says, but I am not doing it.”  Or, they will say, “I am not doing ______ but at least I am doing ______.”  It doesn’t matter how you slice it or dice it, God commands complete obedience to His word.

Question:  Are you completely obeying Christ?  If not, then you have a love problem (next blog post)!

Reading Your Bible

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Why do you read your Bible?  Really…why?  Here is a list of responses:

  • Because we are suppose to.
  • To learn more about God.
  • To increase our biblical knowledge.
  • To check it off our to do list.
  • To make me a better person
To be honest, these were my responses.  However, God has been teaching me that He wants me to encounter Him when I read my Bible.  That reading my Bible is not about me it’s about Him.  It is to encounter Him and when I do encounter Him, He reveals to me His activity and invites me to get involved in His work.  This encounter requires us to adjust our lives to the activity of God.  God never communicates with us merely to give us a warm devotional thought for the day.  He never speaks to us simply to increase our biblical knowledge.  Our Lord has far more significant things to reveal to us than that! When God shows us what He is doing, He invites us to join Him in the work He is doing (Henry Blackaby).
Are you prepared to meet God today?  Don’t seek to hear from God unless you are ready to ask, “What shall I do, Lord?”

Thank You…

Yesterday was unbelievable.  For the first time since October we had all Crosspointers together for one worship experience on MSU’s campus.  The place was packed out, the band rocked, Kidspoint looked awesome, and lives were changed!

Being a portable church has it’s obstacles.  Yesterday we could not back down to the side door at Button due to the ice on the road.  So we had to unload our whole trailer from the top and carry all or our equipment down two flights of stairs.  One thing that really excites me about Crosspoint Church are the volunteers.  These guys did not complain one bit but instead jumped in and started getting the ball rollin with setup.  Then the Kidspoint volunteers had to carry all their stuff another 200 feet or more just to setup.

With that said, thank you Crosspoint volunteers!!!  Without you this could not be possible.  You hard work and effort does not go unnoticed.  Every single week people are talking about how friendly the greeters are, how much fun their child had in Kidspoint, how tight the production was, how awesome the band sounded, etc.  But more importantly, every single week lives are being changed because of your relentless efforts to create such an awesome worship experience.

Keep up the great work…The best is yet to come!

Again, thank you!
