Volunteers

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

People are always asking, “What are you all doing to pull off Sunday mornings so well?”  One word…Volunteers!  They are the backbone of Crosspoint Church and there is no way we could pull off Sunday mornings with out them.  With that said, “Thank You” volunteers. Thanks for getting up early on Sunday mornings to set everything up.  Thanks for breaking everything down and being the the last ones to leave.  Thanks for all your help through out the week to make Sunday mornings unbelievable.  Thank you!  Thank you! Thank you!

Tonight we want to specifically say thanks.  We are going to be having our first ever “Volunteer Worship Experience” just for you!  We want to thank you, encourage you, and challenge you to continue to keep up the great kingdom work that you are doing.  The worship experience will last a hour and then all of us will go to China Star to eat.  This event is absolutely free and we are asking everyone who volunteers at Crosspoint Church to come and bring your family at 5:00pm to the Morehead Conference Center for a great time.

I hope to see you there!

Excellence

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Excellence means “the quality of being exceptionally good of its kind.”  Most organizations have core values and normally one those values are excellence.  However, most organizations are not hitting their mark.  Why?  Because excellence is hard work.  It is an attitude of “whatever it takes”!  The problem is most people/organizations do not display this attitude.  I did not say they couldn’t…They just don’t do it.

Please hear me, excellence is not perfection.  We know we are not perfect nor will we ever be.  But we can be excellent (being exceptionally good of its kind) at what we do.  Crosspoint strives to do everything with excellence.  For us to accomplish this we must have the “less is more” attitude.  For instances, if we tried to do everything, we couldn’t do it all with excellence.  Why?  Because it takes a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to do things great.  Most people have know idea what must happen through out the week to pull off Sunday mornings with excellence.  It’s not just show up on Sunday and things will just happen.  I mean, we plan, debate, meet, and even fight to make things as best as they can be for Sunday morning.  Trust me, you have no idea how much effort goes into making a worship experience a great experience for everyone.

Why are you writing about this topic?  Because, since Crosspoint is getting larger and the expectations keep growing, people are wanting to add new things to the mix.  I mean everyone has an idea and everyone wants to see more stuff added to the plate.  I hear it every Sunday…When are we going to do_____, when are going to go_____, when are we gong to start a ______?  SERIOUSLY, we can’t do everything and do it well.  It is not that simple just to go and start doing something and do it with excellence.

So with that said, NO, we are not going to get caught up doing 100 things poorly when we can focus on a few things and do them with excellence.

By the way…Sunday is going to be excellent at Button Auditorium and you don’t want to miss it!  :)

It’s Here….

Can you believe that Crosspoint Church is getting ready to turn one year old?  A year ago 20 of us were sitting right here in the church office dreaming of a church that would reach people who are far from God.  And here we are living out that dream.

I believe this Sunday is going to be the best Sunday in the history of Crosspoint Church.  Do whatever you can to bring as many people with you to come and celebrate our one year anniversary.  Seriously…read Matt. 22:9!  It is going to be awesome.

Can’t wait…Wish it was already Sunday!!!

You Version

Technology has changed everything.  It has changed the way we pay for gas.  It has changed the way we communicate.  It has changed the way we get information.  To be honest, it has changed the way we live.  The crazy thing, technology is going to continue to challenge the status quo and get faster and better every day.

The question I have for you today is, “Could technology change the way you connect with God?”  I would say, yes!  For instances, I have been using You Version to keep up with my daily Bible reading.  It is a great place to stay on top of your reading, praying, or connecting with others.  I would encourage you all to take a look at this awesome online program.  The really neat thing is, this application will run on your iPhone and it is free!  So whether you are on the go or just woke up in the morning and grabbed your phone, you have your reading plan and Bible with you where ever you go.  For those who live on the go and have immersed yourself into technology or set in front of a computer all day long, I would encourage you to take a look at this website.

Last Sunday of “2008″

Monday, December 29th, 2008

What a day we had yesterday!  Here is a recap…

  1. 6 people stood up publicly and indicated they decided to follow Christ. (That put us over 50 people receiving Christ as their Lord and Savior in the last 11 months!  WOW!
  2. We made a challenge for $10,000 on Christmas Sunday and took in almost $11,000!  The neat thing is we are giving half of it away to the International Mission Board!
  3. We are having a rowdy crowd at the 10:00am worship experience.  They actually talk back to me during the message and I love it…The more they shout, amen, and clap the more pumped I get.  Maybe the 11:30am crowd will catch on…

God has been so good to Crosspoint Church in 2008.  When people told us that it was impossible to start a church in Morehead, KY, God showed up and did a miracle.  The crazy thing is we are just getting started.  God is going to rock our world in 2009.  We are about to crank it up and take it to a whole-nutha-level!  Trust me…you don’t want to miss what God is about to do.  The best is yet to come!!!

Time…

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Can you believe that Crosspoint is just a little over 10 months old?  It seems like yesterday it was January and we just launched the church.  And now we are getting ready to have our first Thanksgiving and Christmas season.  Of course we do not know what to expect as far as who will show up but one thing we know is that Jesus will show up and it is going to off the hook.  How do we know now that Jesus is showing up?  Because every week people’s lives are being changed.  Only Jesus can do that!

On another note, I am getting ready to have a meeting with our production team, where I will rollout the series for December and what I am going to be talking about for the whole month.  And let me tell you, I cannot wait for December.  I really believe that God is going to change our persepctive on how we see things this Christmas.  I am so pumped!

First Step

Monday, October 20th, 2008

Almost a year ago, there were a few of us who really believed that God could do more than we could ever imagine.  In fact, Eph 3:20 became our life verse and it’s still mine.  We would meet in our church office and I would preach and cast vision to about 20 people about what “could be” and “should be” here in Morehead, KY.  Now, here we are living out the vision that God burned in my heart a couple of years ago.  Obviously, we have not arrived yet but we are getting closer to turning this city upside down with the Gospel of Jesus and we are taking steps to reaching this dead and desperate region.

The first step we are taking is adding another worship experience.  We want to give more people more opportunities to hear the life changing message of Jesus.  By adding a second worship experience gives people more opportunities to serve and use their gifts as well.  So if you are not serving at Crosspoint in some capacity, right now is your opportune time.  I encourage you to find a place to get plugged-in and serve the Lord.

Remember, on Nov. 2nd our new times are, “10:00am and 11:30am”.  Please bring someone with you to one of our new worship experiences.  It is going to awesome!

Moving Forward…

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

On January 27th of this year, Crosspoint Church officially launched.  Throughout the last nine months, God has shown His favor on us and blessed us in ways we could not even imagine.  As a result, we’ve grown exponentially and space has become an issue.  Therefore, we’re taking action and anticipating that God is going to continue to bless us.  We currently meet at 11:00am on Sunday mornings at the Morehead Conference Center.  But on Sunday, November 2, our meeting times will change, and you’ll have two options to come and worship at Crosspoint.

Here are the details….

  • Meeting times will be 10:00am and 11:30am.
  • Two identical worship experiences.
  • Kidspoint will take place during both worship experiences.
  • Now you have no excuse not to volunteer.  Click HERE to sign up!

Please continue to invite your friends and family to Crosspoint as we start another chapter in our short existence and experience another wave of blessings!

Keep believing!
